RM of Sasman’s story
The Rural Municipality of Sasman No. 336 incorporated as a rural municipality on January 1, 1913. Its name is a portmanteau, a blend of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Today the RM surrounds the village of Margo and includes the organized hamlets of Kuroki, North Shore Fishing Lake and Ottman-Murray Beach, along with the localities of Kylemore and Nut Mountain. The RM office is in Kuroki.
Visitors can stop at the Margo Recreation Site, a rest area within a protected wildlife area around Sakwasew Lake, reached from Highway 5. Leslie Beach Regional Park sits on Fishing Lake.
